TITL Don Noblin REPO CALN MEDI Book TITL Ron Holley TITL Don Noblin REPO CALN MEDI Book Sampson Harp was born (according to widow's REV War pension application) in 1758. He moved to Overton county,Tennessee in about 1808, where he died in 1828. (Ron Holley) I do have a copy of their marriage bond. His name was not James Sampson. It was only Sampson. The bond shows where someone wrote James Harp, and then crossed out the James and wrote Sampson. To begin, English subjects did not have more than one given name. Two or more given names were not used until the Revolution. (Ron Holley) He died in 1828 in Overton County, Tennessee and she applied for a pension on the strength of his Revolutionary War service. The pension was denied due to lack of verification. All Sampson's contemporaries were dead. She died in August 1849 in Overton County. The only proven child of Sampson was Burton. Sampson lived on Burton's land, and in the 1830 or 1840 census of Overton County, Sarah is living with him. Sarah Harp to John Harp, sale personality. 59-60 104 Sarah Harp "the Elder" Single woman of Granville county to John Harp aged about six years old to Germaine Harp, and to Sarah Harp Junior. Sale, August 3, 1767. Cons: Drivers goods, causes and valuable considerations. Conveys: stock and furniture, among others, one gray horse branded with a fleur de luse, on one of his buttocks. Wit: Thomas Addison. p. 59 She was evidently a mother of these children, although such descriptive language is not used. (researched by Ronney Earp) I am not sure of the names of the children of Sampson 1758-1828 & Sarah Tudor (1754-1850) but, in the 1830 census of Overton County, Tennessee the only Harp household that had a female over the age of 60 years in it was Burton's. Since Sampson Sr. was dead, I would think that this female was Sarah Tudor Harp. (Ron Holley)
